Classic Car Show Returns To The Santa Monica Pier

The LA Shelby American Automobile Club is hosting their annual car show at the Santa Monica Pier honoring past club member Tony Sousa.

The show isn't just a chance to check out cool cars, the club also helps the community by donating money they raise to the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division's Annual Toy Drive.

Randy Richardson is club president and gave us a preview of the show with some really cool cars. Here's what he brought to Good Day LA:

The 2012 Mustang BOSS 302. This is Randy's own car and Ford Motor Company built less than 6,000 BOSS 302's in 2012. Built for performance on road race courses it has 450 horsepower.

Randy's friend Manny Samaniego owns the 1966 Shelby GT350. There were 2,378 GT350's built in 1966 including 1,003 that were purchased by Hertz Car Rental. This GT350 has been Vintage Raced and has over 500 horsepower. Valued at $125,000. Maria went into this car to give the powerful engine a rev.

The next car he showed us is an amazing classic valued at over $2 million dollars: The 1962 Cobra owned by Grammy Award Winner Jazz Legend, Herbie Hancock. This Cobra is the 6th car built by Carroll Shelby and Herbie purchased this Cobra in April 1963 after receiving his first royalty check for his song "Watermelon Man". Herbie has said "I'll never sell it; it represents my first success in life."

And finally Lisa Breckenridge and Maria jump into a 2007 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Convertible owned by Enis Yeneriz to get a feel of what it means to ride in a car that has over 600 horsepower. This is the first Super Snake built by Shelby American delivered to the public. It's valued at $125,000. Watch the video to get a look at Lisa Breck's face--her reaction is classic!

The car show is this Sunday at the Santa Monica Pier from 10am to 3pm.
