    The implosion created a huge plume of dust that billowed to the surrounding businesses nearby, offering an eery ground fog against a bright blue September sky.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

The Ramada Inn on 9 Mile near Greenfield has changed names and owners several times over the years. Now the building is being knocked down.

Fox 2's Robin Murdoch talks to a former employee, Glinda Fragale, who worked at the hotel back when it was the Shiawasee Hotel. Fragale was also proposed to in the building.

Also, Fox 2's Murray Feldman shares some memories about the hotel that stood across the street from the Fox 2 station.

The two million dollar demolition project began on Wednesday earlier this week. There's still no word on what the prime real estate spot will house next.

    48-year-old Keith Andersen retired in February from the Grosse Pointe Park Police Department. On June 21, he was involved in a roll over accident where he suffered a broken neck. As of now Keith has no movement in his the lower half of his body. The Fraternal Order of Police, Grosse Pointe Lodge 102 is holding a fundraiser for Keith on Aug 5th. Amy Lange will have a full report on Fox 2 News at 5:00 p.m.
