NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

It’s the first Sunday for NFL football and there’s already a lot of excitement for Super Bowl 48 and who’ll be performing at halftime.

The fans went wild as the NFL on Fox analysts took a break from their pre-game predictions to make a major announcement – Bruno Mars will perform at the halftime show during Super Bowl 48 at MetLife Stadium.

"This is going to be at the Super Bowl right?”

The Grammy award winning superstar talked exclusively with Fox 5.

"It’s the best, a dream come true, a dream come true,” said Mars.

Fans waited for hours at the Times Square NFL on Fox set and were deliriously happy when they caught a glimpse and got phone pics of their idol.

"Oh my god, this is so awesome,” said fan Alyssa May.

"He said he loved me,” added another fan.

With the Super Bowl countdown clock running, football fans gave the thumbs up to this halftime show draft pic.

And the NFL on Fox analysts and New York Giants Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan approves the move.

"It’s awesome, synchronized," said Strahan.

Super Bowl 48 will be played on February 2nd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford and, again, you can watch it on Fox 5.
