Report: Accused killer wanted to frame, kill witnesses

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, N.H. ( – The man accused of killing a University of New Hampshire student is now accused of writing letters to his girlfriend detailing plots to frame or kill other witnesses.

According to, 30-year-old Seth Mazzaglia wrote letters to his 19-year-old girlfriend, Kathryn McDonough with a false account of what happened to Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott, asking her to memorize his version of the events.

The Website reports that court documents reveal the alleged plot, as well as a plot to frame two other witnesses who Mazzaglia allegedly called to his apartment after Marriott's death. The documents also reportedly reveal a plan to kill one of the witnesses who, apparently, saw a body at his apartment.

Mazzaglia is charged with murder in Marriott's October 2012 death. Marriott's body was never found but investigators said they have evidence that Mazzaglia strangled or suffocated her and disposed of her body.

In July, McDonough pleaded guilty to her role in Marriott's death and received up to three years in prison in return for her cooperation with investigators.

Mazzaglia's trial could begin in May 2014.
