ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Atlantic City's casino revenue fell by nearly 5 percent in August, as table games gamblers won at a higher rate than usual.

The city's 12 casinos took in $298.1 million, down 4.8 percent from a year ago.

Revenue from table games was $78.6 million, down 10.5 percent from August 2012. The state Division of Gaming Enforcement says the casinos fared worse at table games than they did a year ago.

Slot machine revenue was $219.5 million, down 2.6 percent from a year ago.

Overall, 9 of the 12 casinos saw revenue declines in August.

For the first eight months of this year, the casinos won $2 billion. That's down nearly 9 percent from the same period last year.
