Tequan Richmond: It Was Very Tense to Do

"I booked this film off a Skype audition," says Tequan Richmond about "Blue Caprice," which was a big hit at the Sundance Film Festival and is opening in movie theaters this week.

Tequan plays Lee Boyd Malvo, the younger of the DC snipers who terrified Washington, DC, back in 2002.  He was very casual about the audition at first.  "I read for (the director) on Skype and then met with him in New York.  And he got the job.  "Thank you, Skype!"

Tequan is well known to TV audiences from his role as Drew on "Everybody Hates Chris."  He's currently appearing on "General Hospital," playing T.J.

He joins Steve Edwards and Maria Sansone on Good Day L.A.

Fun Facts About Tequan Richmond:

  • Tequan is best known for his role as Drew Rock on the UPN/CW sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. Richmond played Ray Charles, Jr. (son of singer/musician Ray Charles) in the motion picture Ray. and played T. J. Ashford on the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital.
  • Richmond was born in Burlington, North Carolina, U.S. Richmond moved to Los Angeles in 2001 and never intended on becoming an actor.
  • He made his 2013 Sundance Film Festival debut with a performance as Beltway sniper Lee Boyd Malvo in "Blue Caprice." The film sold to Sundance Select/IFC Films and opened New Directors/New Films Festival at MoMA in 2013. The film has a fall 2013 theater release.
