AN OPINION FROM DETROIT -

"We had to send a strong message," the words of Detroit's Compliance Officer Gary Brown.  Was it just a poor choice of words or a very poor decision?

I guess the pregnant lady who had to be helped down from the fourth floor got that message, as she was being rescued by EMS.

The deputies who were trying to move prisoners in the court building, they got the message too.
On the same week one of their brothers was stabbed while trying to move a prisoner, when the lights 'were' on.

So the lights went out and many unsuspecting  people were in the dark.

It's my view that if the words "we had to send a strong message"are accurate, the whole city's in the dark.

That's what an emergency plan is suppose to be for -- is there an emergency plan?

And a way to notify residents that something has happened --- and that we must take a drastic step --- and that at a specific time, you won't be able to see the hand in front of you face.

It's my view that aside from getting the city's finances in order, the powers that be should get some priorities in order.

The internet is like an elephant -- it never forgets. While spoken words leave little trace and are quickly forgotten, written words endure in the online environment. Whatever you post, tweet, update, share -- even if it's deleted immediately afterwards -- has the potential to be captured by someone, somewhere, without your knowledge.
