Posted: Updated:
Police have arrested five teenagers in connection with the vandalism of 7 swimming pools on Long Island, including one teen who worked at one of the pools.

The teens are accused of pouring black crushed rubber into the town pools in the Town of Hempstead on Aug. 21.  Police say the incidents all took place between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The damaged pools were the Slate Lane Pool, Acorn Lane Pool, Bluegrass Lane Pool, North Village Green Pool, Azalea Road Pool, East Village Green Pool and West Village Green Pool.  The exact dollar amount of the damage was unknown.

Nassau County police on Monday identified the suspects as Courtney Erin Kelly, James Slattery and Alexander Maher. They're all 17 and from Levittown. Two juveniles, ages 14 and 15, also were arrested but their names were not released.

Kelly was charged with criminal mischief. Slattery, Maher and the two other teens were charged with criminal tampering.

Information about their attorneys wasn't immediately available.
