PLYMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Plymouth are investigating a report of an attempted child abduction that occurred in the area of Old Mill Road Sunday.
According to police, the suspects attempted to abduct three children who are 5 and 6 years old.
The suspects, described as two black males, were last seen driving a white sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima or Maxima with Rhode Island registration.
Officers encountered the car as it fled the area. While fleeing, the car hit another car at the intersection of Standish Avenue and Cherry Street causing extensive front end damage to the suspect vehicle, police said.
The Plymouth School Department sent a letter home Monday to all households regarding the incident.
Plymouth Police Chief Michael Botieri told FOX 25's Catherine Parrotta the reverse 911 call has generated a lot of tips from the public and that he's confident they'll be able "to get to the bottom of this" soon.
Botieri said people have called in to say the car had been seen before the incident and seemed suspicious.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Plymouth Police Dept. at 508-830-4218.
