According to The Daily Item, police in Swampscott asked state police to handle the investigation in order to avoid a conflict of interest.
Four people were injured in the single-car crash that occurred on Stetson Avenue. The car allegedly crashed into a stone bridge abutment as the road curved left. It is unclear why the driver failed to negotiate the curve, Procopio said.

One of those passengers was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital with serious injuries, reports the newspaper.
An investigation is ongoing.
