WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 27-year-old Uxbridge woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon for her alleged connection to a hit-and-run that injured a 10-year-old boy in Worcester.

Gina Amore is charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and leaving the scene of personal injury.

Investigators allege Amore hit the 10-year-old victim as he attempted to cross Pleasant Street in a marked crosswalk with his mother at about 8:15 a.m. The mother and child were signaled to cross by a crossing guard. When they reached the center of the road, the boy was hit by a Ford Explorer and thrown five feet.

The driver, allegedly Amore, is accused of quickly fleeing the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with what are considered non-life threatening injuries. While investigating, police received a detailed description of the suspect's car.

At about 12:40 p.m., a patrol officer located and stopped the accused suspect's SUV at the corner of May and Pleasant streets. Investigators claim the SUV had damage to its front end. Amore was placed under arrest.

The 27-year-old is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
