AUBURN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Three men from New York City were arrested in Auburn Tuesday after Mass. State Police reportedly found a kilogram of cocaine and 500 Oxycodone pills during a traffic stop.

Mass. State Police say a trooper stopped a Honda CRV on Interstate 290 eastbound at about 2 p.m. after he saw the SUV swerving and failing to stay in its lane while driving in a construction zone.

The trooper claimed he and another trooper began to search the SUV after receiving inconsistent stories from the three people inside the vehicle. They allege the driver, identified as 39-year-old Jose M. Rodriguez, fled across six lanes of traffic and into a wooded area after drugs were found in the SUV.

Rodriguez was found in a nearby swamp and placed under arrest. The 39-year-old is charged with trafficking in over 200 grams of cocaine, trafficking in 28 to 100 grams of Oxycodone, conspiracy to violate drug law, and resisting arrest.

The two passengers in the car, 30-year-old Luis E. Rodriguez and 30-year-old Jason A. Tavares, are charged with trafficking in over 200 grams of cocaine, trafficking in 28 to 100 grams of Oxycodone, and conspiracy to violate drug law.

All three men were held on $100,000 cash bail. They were scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in Worcester District Court.
