North Attleborough High School student to run for board of selectmen

Posted: Updated:

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – An 18-year-old North Attleborough High School student plans to run for the town's board of selectmen, saying "it's time for a fresh perspective."

Patrick Reynolds has volunteered for U.S. Sen Scott Brown's campaign, Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman's presidential bid, and Charlie Baker's gubernatorial campaign, but now he is looking to kick-start his own campaign, reports The Sun Chronicle.

Even though nomination papers aren't available until Nov. 13, Reynolds plans to reach out to voters as soon as possible, focusing on the budget crisis and obtaining more money for schools through reforms.

According to the newspaper, when asked what he will say to anyone who may suggest he is too young, Reynolds plans to tell them he is old enough to "serve our country and at 18 you have the ability to run for office."

As of now, both Selectmen Paul Belham and Michael Thompson's seats will be on the April 2014 ballot. Belham is not running for re-election; however, Thompson is considering it.
