Kym Worthy endorses Sheriff Benny Napoleon for Detroit mayor

(WJBK) -

Worthy made the announcement on the front steps of the former Detroit police headquarters with Napoleon standing at her side.

Worthy believes with the right leadership Detroit can solve its crime problem. "A prosecutor can in no way do it alone. And it's much more effective with the right people in leadership roles around him or her in a true partnership with no hidden agenda, and Benny Napoleon is that person; is that man; is that community leader; and will be that mayor," Worthy stated during the announcement.

"This endorsement is critical. It is an affirmation that the problem in this community with crime is fixable," Napoleon said.

Worthy says Napoleon's five-point crime reduction plan can get the job done and believes it will reduce crime by fifty percent.

Napoleone revealed that five-point plan early September. Click here to learn more.

Fellow candidate Mike Duggan has his own crime-reduction plan which you can also read more about here.

Duggan met with local ministers today and also hinted to Fox 2 about an announcement that could come Wednesday with another major union.
