Posted: Updated:

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- A woman who was killed following an officer-involved chase from Concord to Manchester, N.H. died from a gunshot wound to the chest, the N.H. Attorney General's Office said.

Investigators said Wendy Lawrence, 45, of Canterbury, N.H., was stopped by police at about 6:30 p.m. Monday on Interstate 89 in Concord. When an officer was running her license, she suddenly took off, police said.

From there, police said Lawrence led them on a high-speed chase on Interstate 93 into Manchester. Officers said they tried to stop Lawrence at the intersection of Dave Street and Kennard Road.

Officials said that an officer shot Lawrence four times, with one fatal wound to the chest.

According to the Union Leader, Lawrence, had a history of run-ins with the law and was scared of police. The newspaper says she was arrested in the past for assault and drug possession.

An investigation is ongoing.
