Braves hope to silence skeptics

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Fans of the Atlanta Braves hope the team can silence its critics in the playoffs.

The Braves will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday in the first game of the National League division series. Most pundits and so-called experts have predicted that the Dodgers will emerge victorious.

The Dodgers carry a payroll of $216 million compared to the Braves $89 million.

Still, the Braves had a lot of success at home this season. They won 31 more than they lost at Turner Field, making them the best home team in baseball.

The first two games of the best-of-five series will be played in the friendly confines of Turner Field.

It should be packed. More than 50,000 people are expected for the game. Fans were gathering up remaining tickets on Wednesday. Many excited fans told FOX 5 that they planned to get into the stands early and make a lot of noise throughout the night.
