VIDEO: Florida fisherman go through waterspouts

Posted: Updated:

A pair of Florida fishermenhad a day at sea they won't soon forget.

Kevin Johnsen from Florida Keys Reel Adventures, and fellow anglerAaron Osters, were fishing for lobster when they spotted a storm of the Floridacoast and decided to head towards it.

"We just happened to be at the right place at the right timein the right circumstances," Johnsen said via Skype.

With wind speeds reaching near 70, Johnsen says the spouts caused his deckhatches to completely open and move the boat more than he expected.

"I can't stop shootingvideo. This is so awesome," says Johnsen during the 11-minute video.

The pair and their dog were able to venture away unharmed with several minutesof incredible footage.

"I understand that everyone isn't going to comprehend whatwas happening to think this was a dangerous or reckless situation, when reallyit was no more or no different than a large dust devil which you'd encounter onland, but that you'd see on America's funniest home videos," Johnsen said.

While he may have put his own life on the line, Johnsen saysbetter to watch his video, than to try powering through a waterspout yourself.

"There is always an element of risk here. It's a calculatedrisk," Johnsen said.  "There's inherentdanger anytime you're doing an activity like that."
