DJ Diamond Kuts of Power 99 has joined forces with Dove and their campaign. The "Let's Make Girls Unstoppable" campaign is all about bettering our young girls' self-esteem through being a mentor or big sister.
DJ Diamond Kuts will be a part of some major events this weekend for Dove's 4th annual Self-Esteem Weekend. Diamond Kuts and her girl's unstoppable mentee, 11-year-old Jai Garner, were both in the studio this morning.
The Dove Campaign is so important for DJ Kuts because it emphasizes to girls to place less emphasis on looks and more on their other talents. Too many girls stop doing what they love when they get older, especially when it relates to art or sports. Jai wanted to be a rapper, so that's how Dove set the two together. Jai tells Sheinelle that DJ Kuts teaches her how to DJ.
Sheinelle shared a story about her childhood learning how to dance. They agreed that it is very easy for girls at a young age to get conscious about their bodies.
This weekend, Dove will have an event at the Boys And Girls Club. DJ Kuts will be there because she wants to encourage kids to go for what they want.
Diamond Kuts will also be DJ-ing on top of Empire State Building. It will be a little dance party.
Dove hopes to reach 15 million girls nationwide with self-esteem programs by 2015.
Jai tells FOX 29 that she'll be a rapper in ten years.
