NEWTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Newton have a woman in custody they believe may be responsible for a hit-and-run crash involving an 87-year-old man.

Upon receiving a tip, police were led to the female suspect's Newton residence Saturday night and found the car they believe is the one involved in the crash.

Police arrested the woman on an unrelated warrant; however, charges against the female suspect in connection with the hit-and-run have not yet been filed.

According to police, the man was crossing Walnut Street between Centre and Floral streets on Friday when he was hit.

Investigators say the driver, a white female driving a blue Honda two-door sedan/coupe, turned onto Floral Street and pulled over. As the man was being aided by witnesses, the driver fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with serious internal injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Newton police at 617 796-2100 or the Tips Line at 617 796-2121.
