Unsettled conditions continue Sunday, highs in the mid-60s

Posted: Updated:

FROM FOX 25 METEOROLOGIST SARAH WROBLEWSKI

The weekend started off on a cloudy and damp note, however today improved with a few breaks of sunshine in the afternoon and into the evening for some. That helped boost temps in the mid 70s in southwestern New England. Boston reached 68 degrees, which is above normal for this time of year.

We'll continue to see unsettled conditions this weekend with a weather boundary linked to an area of low pressure in the Midwest draped to our southwest. This front will lift northward overnight and through the day tomorrow. During that time, we'll continue to see a good amount of clouds and the threat of scattered showers.

Tonight, we'll see clouds increase with patchy fog forming. Although we could see a spot shower this evening, a greater risk of showers will most likely come after midnight and closer to the early morning hours of Sunday. Temperatures will only fall back into the 50s.

Since the front will be stuck to our south for the start of our Sunday, we'll continue to have clouds around and scattered showers as this front lifts northward. This will also keep temperatures on the cooler side with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Warmest to the south and southwest. By the late afternoon, the risk of showers will be primarily north of the MA Pike, with even a few breaks of sunshine developing over the Cape. If this front moves faster, we could see further breaks of sunshine in southern areas boosting temps a bit higher.

By Monday, this front will be well to our north and we'll be stuck in a soupy air mass of warm and humid air. This will also mean we'll see partly to mostly cloudy skies at times and the risk of a spot shower. The threat of showers increases into Tuesday as a cold front from the west will be approaching and bring wet and breezy conditions to the area.
