Managing without a cell phone

Posted: Updated:

The cell phone is practically a human appendage. Cell phones seem to be attached to us wherever we go.

People get eerily nervous without them. That is precisely why Scott Munson says he has never owned a mobile phone because he didn't want too attached to a piece of technology. He says he finds the majority of conversations he overhears to be inane, anyway.

But these days not everyone is surviving so well without a cell phone. In fact, only 3 percent of Americans between 18 and 29 do not have one. Only 9 percent of all adults don't have one, according to a new pew research study.

Author Matthew Stillman is part of that miniscule group. He says he gets by just fine with his laptop.

Billionaire investor Warren Buffet famously also doesn't have a cell phone. Maybe it's not such a dumb idea after all.
