The South Loop has a big new grocery store. Mariano's opened on Tuesday at 16th and Clark.
The store carries the usual groceries, plus products from local gourmet companies like Grandma Maude's and Esther's.
Mariano's says the new store means 425 new jobs for Chicago. The company says it's created 4,200 jobs across the area since its first store opened in 2010.
Mayor Emanuel said the new grocery store is another sign that Chicago has the fastest-growing downtown in America.
Police are investigating the murder of a homeless man who was beaten to death in an alley in Logan Square.
