Teary-eyed mother wishes missing daughter a happy birthday

CONWAY, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A missing New Hampshire teen's mother shared a tear-filled plea for her return Saturday night.

Through tears, Abigail Hernandez's mother, Zenya, wished her daughter a happy birthday. The teen turned 15 Saturday.

"I want to say Abby, please come home and we miss you so badly," said Zenya during a press conference.

Zenya asked for anyone with information about Abigail's disappearance to step forward. She also asked any of Abigail's classmates who may have noticed a change in her over the past few weeks to contact police.

Officials said there was no new information to share during Saturday's press conference. They said Abigail's disappearance remained a missing person's case.

An official with the Department of Fish and Game said crews covered more than eight miles of the Saco River and over 2,500 yards of woods Saturday. He said a medical examiner was called in twice on unrelated incidents, including the discovery of bone fragments believed to belong to someone who died many years ago.

Abigail Hernandez was last seen Wednesday afternoon leaving Kennett High School in Conway, N.H.

In the days following her disappearance, the FBI's Child Rapid Abduction Deployment team was brought in to assist in the search. Authorities searched by air, land, and water for the teen. Early in the probe, investigators said there was no evidence of an abduction and they did not suspect foul play.

Hernandez is described as 5'4" tall, weighing about 118 pounds. The 15-year-old has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt with colored stripes, black yoga pants, and a gray shoulder bag.

Investigators continue to request that anyone with details, no matter how insignificant they may seem, contact the FBI.

Anyone who may have seen Hernandez on Tuesday or Wednesday is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip at www.tips.fbi.gov.
