Gronk’s mom to critics: ‘Robbie is dying to play’

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Rob Gronkowski's mother says her son is dying to play and sources that cast stones don't know the "whole story."

Diane Gronkowski spoke to the Boston Herald about Gronk's status after he missed the Patriots' 30-27 win against the New Orleans Saints. Rumors had circulated that teammates resented the fact that Gronk had been practicing for weeks and not playing.

"All I can say is Robbie is dying to play. He wants to get out there," Diane told the Herald. "He's doing what he has to do to get back playing."

Diane said those who criticized him for coming back too soon from other injuries are complaining that he's not coming back soon enough from this one. She said her son wanted to come back as early as Week 2.

She said he will definitely return this season.
