Police: Man arrested in connection with MBTA bus driver assault

(MyFoxBoston.com) – A man arrested while breaking into a Malden home Monday has been additionally charged with assaulting an MBTA bus driver in Chelsea on Oct. 15.

Douglas Bergeron, 32, was taken into custody on Elwell Street while breaking into a home, police said. Bergeron was accompanied by Marie Breault, of Malden.

Both Bergeron and Breault were charged with breaking and entering in the daytime.

Additionally, Bergeron was charged with an assault that occurred on Broadway Street in Chelsea on Oct. 15. Bergeron allegedly assaulted the driver as the bus was in motion, causing the bus to crash into several parked cars.

Authorities had secured a warrant for Bergeron's arrest. The warrant is for assault and battery on a public employee and interfering with public transportation.
