PITTSFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Pittsfield teen is accused of possessing a firearm without a license during a traffic stop in Adams.
Mass. State Police say Trooper Michael O'Brien stopped a gray Ford Focus on Columbia Street for motor vehicle violations Wednesday. After speaking with the occupants, O'Brien asked 19-year-old Tyler Sumner to get out of the car.
O'Brien claimed that Sumner resisted and a struggle ensured while he was attempting to frisk him for weapons. Another trooper, Dave McKearney, stepped in and helped place the teen under arrest.
Police officials claim the troopers found a Colt .25 caliber pistol with one round of ammunition on Sumner.
Sumner is charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, carrying a firearm with ammunition, firearm violation with one prior violent/drug crime, possession of ammunition without an FID card, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest.
Sumer was held without bail pending his arraignment.
