Tia Mowry-Hardrict: Have To Continue To Do What You Love

Posted: Updated:

Tia Mowry-Hardrict looks so young herself -- she's 35 -- that at first you can't believe she's playing stepmother to three kids, including one who's a teenaged girl, on the new Nick At Nite sitcom, Instant Mom.

But the former co-star of Sister, Sister, reminds Steve Edwards and Maria Sansone on Good Day LA, "I am a mom in real life, so it's good to finally get to play a mom, and this is the first role in which I get to do that."

As for what it's like getting back to work now that she has a little one at home -- her son Cree, who's 28 months old -- Tia says, "It's been an adjustment.  Sometimes you feel guilty leaving your son at home, but you have to continue to do what you love to do, and I feel very grateful."

And Tia did have some advice for Maria, who will soon give birth to her own first child, "First of all, you get no more sleep, so get as much sleep as you possibly can now.  But it's a lot of fun; it really is."

Fun Facts About Tia Mowry-Hardict (Source: Wikipedia)

1) She first gained fame for her teen role as Tia Landry on the ABC/WB sitcom Sister, Sister (opposite her identical twin sister Tamera Mowry). From 2006 until 2012, she portrayed medical student Melanie Barnett Davis on the CW/BET comedy-drama series The Game. She is also notable for starring in the television movie Twitches and its sequel Twitches Too. In 2013, Mowry became the main subject of the Nickelodeon's Nick at Nite show Instant Mom.

2) Tia is two minutes younger than her twin sister, Tamera. Tamera was born first, at 4:30pm, followed by Tia at 4:32pm. She also has two younger brothers, actor Tahj Mowry and Tavior Mowry, who plays college football for University of California, Davis.

3) Mowry and her sister began entering pageants and talent shows while their family was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. At age 12, they convinced their mother to move to California with them so they could pursue acting. She agreed, on the condition that they land an acting job within the first month of their stay. In 1990, their family moved to California permanently, settling in Los Angeles, and she and her sister began appearing in commercials and small roles.
