Family upset after dog shot in Villa Rica

Posted: Updated:
VILLA RICA, Ga. -

A Villa Rica family is in shock after someone shot their dog on Sunday. The dog is alive, but badly injured.

The Hanson family said that their black America bulldog, Sander, slipped out of the door on Sunday night.

Sander was shot multiple times on Pool Road and came limping home bloodied and injured.

The family took the dog to an emergency vet, who had to amputate one of his legs.

Villa Rica police have little evidence to help find who shot the dog.

While Sander will have to endure months of rehab, the Hansons know it could have been worse.

"He's lucky to be alive. The person who shot him, you didn't kill him, thank God," said Ashley Hanson.
