Condition of Chelsea hit-and-run victim upgraded to 'fair'

CHELSEA, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Chelsea man injured in a hit-and-run is in fair condition as investigators continue to search for the person who hit him.

Police told FOX 25 Orlando Diaz's condition has been upgraded from "critical" to "fair" since the Monday night crash.

The 57-year-old was hit in front of 242 Washington Ave in Chelsea at about 7:29 p.m.

Witnesses told police Diaz was struck as he attempted to cross the street by a dark, two-door sedan. The sedan may have been green. One witness told police the vehicle sped off immediately at a high rate of speed after the crash.

Investigators continue to search for an older model car that likely has windshield damage and minor damage to the front, driver side. The car is believed to be a late 90s or early 2000s model.
