CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A North Dakota woman plans to send a message to the parents in her neighborhood through their kids on Halloween. Children she deems overweight will be getting sealed letters when they come calling for candy this year.

The letters are to be opened by their parents, where they'll find this message, in part:

"You [sic] child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season. My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits."

She believes in the adage "it takes a village to raise a child," and that it is her responsibility to let them know when they are being irresponsible.

The woman told a Fargo radio station that sending kids that are already "struggling to stay healthy" to seek out free candy "just because everyone else is doing it" is not the best parenting decision.

She believes they should ration the candy for their kids and encourage healthier eating habits. She also said she doesn't want to be labeled as mean, and won't deny candy to those who visit her house.

Here's the letter in full:

"Happy Halloween and Happy Holidays Neighbor!

You are probably wondering why your child has this note; have you ever heard the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child"? I am disappointed in "the village" of Fargo Moorhead, West Fargo.

You [sic] child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season.

My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits."
