Obama in Boston on World Series day, stays neutral
BOSTON (AP) - President Barack Obama came to town on World Series game day but he's avoiding the crowds at Fenway Park.
Obama spokesman Josh Earnest says Obama is mindful of the effect his security entourage has on the public and never considering attending the game.
Earnest said Obama wouldn't abandon his loyalty to the Chicago White Sox to cheer on either the Boston Red Sox or the St. Louis Cardinals. But Earnest noted that Obama lived in Boston while attending Harvard so understands the city's excitement over the prospect of winning the series at Fenway for the first time in 95 years.
Boston Mayor Tom Menino greeted Obama upon Air Force One's arrival and handed him a Red Sox cap.
Earnest says he would bet money his boss will be watching on television.
