BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A man from New York is accused of selling counterfeit tickets to the World Series at Fenway Park.
Police said, Clark Bell, 33, of New York City, sold two counterfeit Game 6 tickets to another man. When the other man tried to get into the game, he learned the tickets were fake. He reported the tickets to police who later located the suspect.
Police said Bell told them his name was "Michael Smith" and he lived in Connecticut. After he was arrested officers said they found $1,604 in cash in one of his pants legs and nine more bogus tickets in his shoe.
Bell's criminal record showed 48 prior criminal incidents related to forgery and counterfeiting in other states, according to police. They also said he has 10 known aliases with three different social security numbers and 12 different dates of birth.
Bell was held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. He was ordered to stay away from Fenway and remain in Massachusetts pending his trial. He's also required to check in with a probation officer once a week.
