WOBURN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man was airlifted to a Boston hospital Tuesday after being injured in an explosion at Powder Parts, a company in Woburn.

The explosion happened at 475 Wildwood Ave. early Tuesday afternoon. Police and fire departments arrived on the scene, where crews got the fire under control at around 1:30 p.m., according to tweets from the police department.

Woburn police chief Robert Ferullo said a man who had third degree burns over 90 percent of his body was taken by MedFlight to Boston for treatment.

According to Woburn Patch, the man was conscious and talking to paramedics as he was loaded into the helicopter, and a second man, who did not suffer burns, was taken to Lahey Clinic by ambulance after he tried to help following the explosion.

Massachusetts State Police and the State Fire Marshal's Office are leading the investigation along with Woburn Police, Woburn Fire, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to Woburn Patch.
