Dacula passes Sunday liquors sales by one vote

Posted: Updated:
DACULA, Ga. -

Package stores in a Gwinnett County city will soon be able to sell liquor on Sundays after a voter referendum passed by one vote.

Dacula officials say the vote was 88 to 87 in favor of Sunday sales between 12:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Russ Weaver, the owner of Dacala Cork and Bottle, tell FOX 5News that he wonders if voters were confused by the wording since a previousreferendum allowed beer and wine sales on Sunday.

Right now, the only store in the city limits is the Dacula Cork and Bottle.

City officials noted there was one "spoiled ballot" cast.

The vote will need to be certified at the next city council meeting.
