GARDNER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A traffic stop led to the arrest of two people for drug possession in Gardner early Tuesday morning, according to Massachusetts State Police.
A state trooper patrolling the highway stopped a brown Volkswagen Passat at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on the eastbound side of Route 2. After pulling the car over, troopers searched it and found numerous plastic bags containing drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Troopers seized approximately one pound of Psilocybin mushrooms, 58 mushroom caps and 19 grams of the psychedelic drug DMT from the car.
The car's driver, 27-year-old Jesse Russo, of Boxborough; and his passenger, 18-year-old Kati Hollenbeck, of Ashburnham, were arrested and held on $5,000 cash bail.
Russo faced both driving-related charges, as well as drug charges, including a motor vehicle lights violation, failure to wear a seatbelt, and possession with intent to distribute both Class B and D drugs. Among Hollenbeck's charges were possession with intent to distribute Class B, C and D drugs.
