Fairhaven women accused of driving drunk in fatal New Bedford crash
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 26-year-old woman is accused of being under the influence of alcohol in an overnight crash that killed a 23-year-old Acushnet man.
Caitlin Chouinard, of Fairhaven, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide by result of operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violations in the fatal crash.
Investigators allege Chouinard lost control of her Jeep Liberty while traveling north on Route 140 in New Bedford at about 2 a.m. Friday. Her car flipped and came to a rest between exits 4 and 5.
Shortly after the car flipped, Adam Taylor approached in his Jeep and hit the disabled car.
Both Jeeps became engulfed in flames. Chouinard was able to escape from her car. Taylor was declared deceased at the scene.
Chouinard was treated at St. Luke's Hospital for unknown injuries. There is no word on when she will be arraigned.
