Machete Wielding Robber On The Loose

Southwest Philadlephia -

It happened in a flash. Police say a machete wielding man out for an easy buck tried to rob two men walking to work.

It happened  around 6:30 Thursday morning on the 6000 block of Woodland.

"It's Killadelphia," said Cheryl Ramsey. "There's  always something over the dumbest stuff."

Fearing for their lives the 37-year-old construction workers split up as they ran down Woodland.

But that didn't stop the suspect described as a 5'7", 30-something year old Asian man.

In the video you can see the victim's belongings scatter as the suspect swings the machete at him.

Police say the 37-year-old victim suffered a cut to his head and hand.

Just minutes before the  attack caught on camera, police say the same man demanded money from the two construction workers as he drove by them in a dark colored four door sedan.

Lt. Walker explains how the violent episode unfolded.

"The guy looks like he's waiting out there. He  sees these people. Desperate for money our victim tells him the first time they have no money. The second time he confronts them thinking they lied to him and realizes they didn't have any money then whacks him with the machete."
