ATHENS, Ga. -

A small restaurant in Athens that made a name for itself with good old fashioned Southern charm and great food may still be closing.

Weaver D's, a landmark made famous by the band REM, may close its doors after about three decades of serving soul food.

R.E.M. named their eighth album after the motto of Weaver D's Delicious Fine Foods: Automatic for the People.

The eatery has fallen upon hard times over the past few years and has almost closed more than once, but this time it might just be for good.

Owner Dexter Weaver says he is willing to keep the doors open, but it will take a big effort from the community to do so.
