Special Spaces creates dream bedroom for boy with leukemia

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A Chicago boy with a severe illness received a dream bedroom makeover on Wednesday. It's a huge act of kindness from a non-profit organization called Special Spaces.

Special Spaces partnered up with a corporate sponsor Feld Entertainment, the parent company of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey, to make his dreams a reality.

Jon Staszel, an energetic 7-year-old who loves to play, suffers from a rare form of leukemia called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was not able to attend school last year, and spends a lot of time in his room due to the disease. So Special Spaces wanted to transform his room into one of his favorite things – the circus!

This year's show is called "Built to Amaze!" and that is exactly what volunteers hope to do for Jon. He favorite parts of the circus are the King Charles Troupe basketball players and the tigers.

Good Day Chicago guided you through the building process on Wednesday, showing the love and hard work going into creating a wonderful space for this young boy to dream in, while he fights for his life.

Jon was ecstatic when he saw the end results! Just some of the features of Jon's dream room: A circus train mural, sports memorabilia and a special circus ring activity zone.

P.S. Jon will be the guest ringmaster at Ringling Bros. show on Saturday, Nov. 22. Be sure to see his special performance, and take your family to the circus!
