DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

A group gathered outside Wayne State University's administration building Thursday protesting what they call cruel, inhumane and unnecessary experiments on dogs.

Animal lovers and those with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) presented a petition with 1,100 signatures to the university's president, saying the university violates 21 state laws during its experiments on dogs.

"These experiments have going on for twenty years, and the outcome has really been just a lot of dead dogs," says Dr. Kenneth Litwak, D.V.M.

The PCRM gathered their information from WSU medical records, but the WSU'S Director of Communication, Matt Lockwood, says those records are being taken out of context, and that the PCRM has been "harassing" the university for years.
