Posted: Updated:

NORWOOD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) --A car crash on Friday night caused State Police to close Route 95 for a time, causing long backups for drivers as they were diverted around the highway.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Friday night, Mass. State Police unites responded to a rollover crash on the Norwood/Canton town line, just north of exit 11B in Norwood.

The man and a woman inside the 1998 Ford Explorer suffered "probable fatal injuries," according to state police spokesman David Procopio. They were pronounced dead on the scene. The man was identified as Jerome Blomquist, 59, from Wrentham, and the woman was identified as 60-year-old Joan Pupi, also of Wrentham.

A crash reconstruction team and other sections of the state police shut sections of the highway for three hours to investigate. It has since been reopened.

Police said state troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
