Mom Deals With Lunch Packing Controversy

Posted: Updated:

Most parents pack their kids a well-balanced lunch for school every day, or at least they think. However, when one mom in Canada sent her two children to daycare with what she thought was a healthy meal, she was fined!

She sent her kids to daycare with roast beef, potatoes, carrots and some milk, but that wasn't good enough.

That's because Canadian food guidelines require children to also have at least one grain with their meal.

And according to daycare workers, a grain was missing, so they intervened. Officials gave the kids Ritz Crackers and charged the mom ten bucks for it.

This mom says that she's not angry about the money, but she's upset that Ritz Crackers count as a grain!

There's now a hot lunch program at the daycare, so parents don't have to worry about following such strict guidelines, and no more parents will be fined for grains.
