BOSTON (AP) - A Boston man has pleaded not guilty in a fatal street attack in which his brother and teenage nephew also are charged.
Thirty-two-year-old Gabriel Sanchez was arraigned Thursday on a murder charge in the death of 29-year-old Edwin Santos. He was ordered held without bail.
Forty-three-year-old Elias Sanchez and 16-year-old Angel Sanchez also are held without bail after pleading not guilty to charges in connection with Santos' death. All three suspects are to return to court Dec. 18.
Authorities say Santos was stabbed and beaten at about 5 p.m. Sunday in front of a South Boston store. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Prosecutors say the suspects and the victim were "well-known to each other," but the exact motive for the attack remains under investigation.
