Wheelchair For A Day, Take The 'NextStep'

Posted: Updated:

Can you handle being in a wheelchair for one day? 'NextStep' is a campaign challenging people to spend one entire day in a wheelchair and then write all about their experience.

The person who created this campaign is Janne Kouri. He was left unable to move after he hit a sandbar while ocean diving.  Kouri started  the 'NextStep' Campaign to raise awareness and money to build fitness centers for people in wheelchairs.

Kouri already opened up one facility but he says that's not enough.

There are approximately 6 million people living with paralysis in the United States and 30 million with mobility impairment.

This morning, Stefan Richter, owner of the restaurant, The Farm is taking on the challenge and spending one day in a wheelchair. So far, he says that's the most difficult thing he's ever done.  But Stefan says, it's worth it if he can raise more money for NextStep.
