The Southfield and Sterling Heights police departments are asking the public for help locating Sheldon Leider, a 75-year-old man who has been missing since October 25.

Police say his white Toyato Corolla was discovered in a parking lot off Mound Road near 18 Mile Road. Lt. Kevin Reese of Sterling Heights Police says the car was parked, the windows were rolled down and the keys were still in the ignition. A notebook was also left in the vehicle, but it did not contain any indication of where he went.

Family told police he was looking for a new place to live, and had been consulting with a rabbi and a financial planner. He has also been on medication for schizophrenia for decades and was recently switched to a new medication.

Leider lives near 11 Mile and Greenfield roads in Southfield. His family knows of no connection to Sterling Heights that would have brought him to that area.
