Cold, wet weather presents dangers on the road

Posted: Updated:
GILMER COUNTY, Ga. -

Wet weather and near freezing temperatures could lead to dangerous roads for commuters on Wednesday.

FOX 5 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Ken Cook said snow is likely to fall in many parts of north Georgia early morning, and that icy roads are possible.

While some people have the luxury of being off of work, others must brave the highway.

Gene Swayne is a driver who delivers parts for the Appliance Doctor at night.

"If people want their ovens to work for Thanksgiving, I got to get the parts so the techs can fix the ovens and stuff," Swayne said.

Swayne said he was on the lookout for black ice and trying to drive slowly.

Heavy rain caused some flooding in Gilmer County on Tuesday. Several roads had to be shut down. There is concern that more precipitation could cause more flooding there on Wednesday.
