Some N.H. stores roll out Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving

SALEM, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Some stores in New Hampshire rolled out their Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving Day.

Shoppers braved the cold and lined up to score some big savings in the Granite State. Some people at the K-Mart in Salem told FOX 25 they stood in line since midnight and were looking to grab some gifts for their relatives. That K-Mart opened its doors at 6 a.m.

Massachusetts has Blue Laws preventing retailers from opening on Thanksgiving, but New Hampshire allows it.

On Thursday evening, a line at the Best Buy in Salem, N.H. was at least 100 people long and stretched around the store. It wasn't just people from New Hampshire, but a lot came from just over the border in the Merrimac Valley region of Massachusetts. One man came all the way from Montreal, Canada.

Misty Muscatel of Wyndham was waiting in line with her family, wearing a Superman shirt and cape.

"We have done this many years in a row and we have lost each other many years in a row and so last year we dressed in hula costumes and this year we decided to step it up a notch and we've got capes and we can fly through the aisles," she said.

This year was the first the Salem Best Buy opened on Thanksgiving.  The store used to open at midnight Friday, but this year they opened the doors at 6 p.m., and will stay open through 10 p.m. Friday night.

People in line were foregoing their turkey. Some said it was cooking while they wait in line and they'll eat it Thursday night. Others will eat it over the weekend.
