SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Two heroin dealers were arrested on Thanksgiving Day as they were making deliveries to their customers, according to Springfield Police.

Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Roberto Delgado, 51, and Michael Karam, 49, both of Springfield were arrested on charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, violation of a drug free school zone, conspiracy to violate the narcotics drug laws and possession of a class E substance (Clonazepam) with intent to distribute, police said.

Police received a tip that the pair, who run a heroin dealing operation across from the police department on Byers and Pearl Streets, were planning to make holiday deliveries in a white Buick. The officers set up surveillance and watched the pair get into the Buick and drive to a nearby laundromat, where they sold a bag of heroin to a customer waiting in the parking lot.

Shortly after, the officers stopped and searched the Buick and found 178 bags of heroin packaged for sale, $933 and 161 pills of Clonazepam.

The duo was arraigned Friday in Springfield District Court.
