BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The pastry chefs at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Boston have created a giant nutcracker for guests and visitors to gawk at, and maybe even drool over.
Led by executive chef Andrew Yeo, the pastry team created a 14-foot Nutcracker made mainly out of gingerbread macarons, a meringue-based French confection.
According to the hotel, the figure was inspired by the Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker, and is in the lobby for anyone to view.
The nutcracker is covered in more than 2,000 macarons flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger, clove and almond. To create such a figure, it took more than 4,000 egg whites, 100 points of sugar, and 20 pounds of flour. His facial features are made out of fondant icing.
