Holidays Stylized And Organized: Put A Pin In It

Posted: Updated:

For today's Put A Pin In It segment we're featuring Erin Condren who's known for her custom stationery and personalized calendars. Today she's' helping us get our holidays stylized and organized.

It's no secret that the holidays have arrived! This is my favorite time of the year - holidays mean family time, and best of all…party time!

Today I'm going to share you a few tips & tricks I've mastered to ensure your holiday is stylized, personalized, and most importantly (for us working parents): ORGANIZED!

Tip 1 - Kick Off the Season in Style, with a Custom Holiday Greeting Card

  • In this crazy digital age, I still love sending and receiving cards. This is the one time of year we get to hear from family and friends both near and far!
  • I have a few examples of some "do's" and "don'ts" to make sure your card lands a spot on every fridge this season!
  • Choosing the right photo is essential; make sure your subjects are centered, and that lighting looks natural vs. too much contrast.
  • You can't go wrong with classic colors like red, green, and gold; I also suggest trying a rich chocolate brown, or ice pool blue this season. Earth-tone colors really make your photos 'pop.'
  • Keep your greeting simple, and let your photos do the talking!
  • Opt for double or triple-thick card stock; it's durable and luxurious.

Tip 2 - Package Gifts Like a Pro

  • We've all received a few perfectly-wrapped presents in our day…the kind you just don't want to open!
  • My trusted, gal-on-the-go tip? Avoid the mess of wrapping paper and stick to collapsible cardboard boxes! They're reusable, and easy to "dress up."
  • One of my favorite ways to dress up a package (especially a hostess gift!) is to add a metallic accent.
  • Take your package a step further with a custom label - you can also stick these on items that are impossible to wrap perfectly, like a bottle of champagne!

Tip 3 - Arrange a Bar Cart for Parties

  • One of my favorite new entertaining trends this season is the bar cart. You can find them in home décor magazines and fashion blogs alike!
  • You can find a bar cart at CB2 or West Elm, or even your local flea market…I got mine at Target!
  • Arrange bottles, cups, ice, and small snacks on the top shelf. I love to include a glass votive candle for a festive touch.
  • Use trays can be used appetizers (only if food safe!) as well as cocktails! When the party's over, trays are great for "catch alls" in a bathroom, bedside table or kitchen.
  • Place extra cups and ice bucket below - my favorite trick is to recycle the glass votives from my favorite candles. They're the perfect size for cocktails, and look so chic! Remove the wax residue, wash, and serve up your favorite drink.

Sutter Zachman had his first record deal when he was barely out of his teens. You may have seen the Orange County native was on stage at the Largo and other hot clubs around LA. He then left town...after what he called a few "bouts" with the music business, but now he is back with a new EP called ‘Repeat Offender.'
